The City encourages the preservation of the historical and architecturally significant resources in Grass Valley. The Grass Valley Historical Commission consists of five (5) members and one (1) alternate, each appointed by the City Council for a four year term.  The Historical Commission’s function is to identify and verify historical resources within the City and encourage their preservation. They also designate historical properties in the City and honor the property owners who have maintained or restored these historic sites. The Commission also makes recommendations to the City Council regarding designation of historical landmarks as appropriate.

The Commission meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 4:00 PM in the Bodmin Room, downstairs at City Hall. There is no compensation for serving on the Commission.
