Welcome to the City of Grass Valley's Municipal Election webpage.
The City of Grass Valley General Municipal Elections are held in November of even-numbered years. Other special elections may be called from time to time by the City Council. City Council Members are elected at large for a four-year term. The City Council serves staggered terms, i.e., two or three seats are open each election cycle. Nomination papers to seek office are available from the City Clerk's office prior to each election.
2016 General Municipal Election
At the close of the nomination period on August 12, 2016, were not more candidates than offices to be elected.
That § 10229 of the Elections Code allows one of the following courses of action to be taken by the City Council:
1. Appoint to the office the persons who have been nominated and cancel the election
2. Appoint to the office any eligible voter if no one has been nominated.
3. Hold the election if either no one or only one person has been nominated.

At the City Council meeting of August 23, 2016 the Council chose to cancel the election and appoint the following nominees to the open seats on City Council and they were sworn into office on December 13, 2016:
Each will serve a term of 4 years with their terms ending on December 8, 2020.
