The Grass Valley Police Department is a full-service, community policing organization with 24 sworn officers, 3 support staff, 8 reserve officers, and 12 volunteers who provide police services for the City.  In addition, the Police Department is responsible for Animal Control Services in Grass Valley and Nevada City and is staffed by two Animal Control Officers and shelter volunteers.

Operating out of a modern police facility at 129 South Auburn Street, the department features uniformed patrol, an investigations unit and model community policing programs.
