Concerns with Lead Based Paint and Asbestos |
|
| Lead Based Paint and Asbestos (LBPA) have gained increasing notoriety in recent years. Lead Based Paint can be present on pre-1978 structures, and Asbestos on pre-1985 structures. For more information regarding LBPAyou can contact: www.dhs.ca.gov/childlead or 1/800/597-LEAD (5323) regarding LBP, and www.lungusa.org or 1/800/LUNG-USA (5864-872). Informational handouts are also available at the Building Division at City Hall. |

Snow Removal |
|
The City has a snow removal operation that goes into effect when the snow reaches three inches in depth.
The Public Works Department has snow plow crews that work around the clock when needed to clear streets and intersections. Every effort is made to keep the streets free from snow, plowing as wide as possible.
Please note the following regarding the snow plow season: - Please park your vehicles in driveways as much as possible. This simplifies the job and minimizes the risk of damage to vehicles
- Don't follow too closely behind a snowplow or stop too closely behind a stopped snow plow.
- Don't pass a snow plow unless your visibility is perfectly clear and it is completely safe for the snowplow driver and other vehicles.
- Plowing often leaves a berm of snow across driveway entrances. Berm removal is the responsibility of the residents.
- Putting snow from driveways into the city streets is illegal.

2005 Fire Season
|
|
 |
Although it was a relatively slow fire season, the Grass Valley Fire Department was called upon to assist in two major California wildfires this year. The Manton Fire outside of Red Bluff destroyed 29 homes before it was controlled but many more were saved by the mutual aid of firefighters from across Northern California.
The Topanga Fire in Southern California consumed 24,175 acres but only three structures were lost. Thankfully, a relatively quiet fire season for Grass Valley, but still some opportunities to keep skills sharpened and make a difference.
