Community Survey |
On November 22, 2005 the Grass Valley City Council approved engaging the services of Fairbank, Maslin, Maullin and Associates (FMMA), a well respected public opinion research firm, to conduct a community survey to find out the opinions of residents on issues such as planning, growth, development, the SDAs (Special Development Areas), traffic, quality of life and satisfaction with city services. In February 2006, FMMA plans to conduct 15 minute phone surveys with 300 to 400 City residents to achieve a 95% confidence level. If you are called, please participate. The survey results will provide Council with insightful information about what residents think on issues facing Grass Valley.

Reservoir Work Scheduled |
Diana Langley, Senior Engineer
Alta Hill Reservoir |
The Alta Hill Reservoir, which is located at the City's Water Treatment Plant on Alta Street, has an existing floating cover that was installed in 1983.
The cover is at the end of its useful service life, so the City hired Sauers Engineering, Inc., to evaluate alternatives for the reconstruction of a cover over the reservoir. Sauers evaluated alternatives for replacement and presented options to Council who chose to have the existing cover replaced with a rigid aluminum cover. The rigid cover will provide superior protection to the City's domestic water supply, require very little maintenance, and will be less vulnerable to vandalism and damage. The Engineering Department has held one neighborhood meeting to discuss the project, and will be scheduling more as the design process moves forward. The anticipated schedule for the project is to construct the cover in Fall 2006. |
First City/County Conference Held

The first City/County Conference was held at the LOVE Building in Grass Valley on October 18, 2005 with Council Members from Grass Valley, Nevada City and Truckee along with the Nevada County Board of Supervisors. Topics included growth, affordable housing, traffic and the methamphetamine problem. The gathering advanced the understanding of each of the issues and resulted in the formation of several action teams to address these challenges.
