2005 Heritage Home Awards


The Grass Valley Historical Commission held the 8th annual Heritage Home Awards ceremony on May 20th. This program recognizes homes that have been determined to have historical and architectural significance. The City annually presents the owners of five homes within the original 1872 Township with a bronze-cast historic plaque. The plaque is awarded in recognition and appreciation for their efforts to maintain or restore their historic home.

The 2005 award winners are:
• 203 Pleasant St., Paul and Sandy Varacalli
• 153 Race St., Gerald and Judith Neumann
• 128 High St., Curtis Romander and Cheryl Wicks
• 257 S. Auburn St., Edward Kiernan
• 104 Walsh St., Gregory and Dolores Bulanti

Student Volunteers


Grass Valley Charter School
at Glenn Jones Park

This spring students from local schools contributed numerous hours of their time assisting with projects that have benefited the City’s Parks. 3R School spent a total of 3 days planting Daffodil bulbs, pruning fruit trees, and building a trail at the future site of Mautino Park. Grass Valley Charter School students came out to Glenn Jones Park on 5 separate occasions to remove blackberries along Wolf Creek and replant the area with native plants. Their efforts and wide variety of skills are greatly appreciated.
