Chapter 8.04 HEALTH SERVICES ADMINISTRATION
Section 8.04.010 Transfer of services to county.
In order to establish more effective health services for
the city it is necessary and convenient to
extend to the city such public health services as are provided to the county pursuant to contract
by the Department of Public Health of the state under the provisions of Section 1157 of the
Health and Safety Code of the state, and also such services and functions of the health officer of
the county as relate to public health matters as are conferred upon health officers by state law
and local ordinances within the city or the county.
For the purpose of carrying out the objective of this section,
the functions of the department of
health of the city and of the boards, officers and employees comprising such department, are
transferred to the appropriate function of the county. The provisions of the charter of the city
providing for the functions of the city government so transferred to the county by the provisions
of this section shall be deemed suspended only during such time as there shall be in existence a
valid contract between the city and the county covering the extension of the health services
mentioned in this section to the city by the county. (Prior code § 11-1)
