Chapter 3.08 PURCHASING SYSTEM
Section 3.08.140 Open market orders.
A. An open market order is used for
those vendors from whom repeated purchases are made
as supplies are required. An open market order is distinguished from an open purchase as it is
issued over the dollar amount limit of an open purchase order for specific supply items for a
stated price good for a stated time period. Open market orders for purchases, whenever possible
and practical, shall be established and issued on a purchase order by the purchasing agent. The
purchasing agent shall determine the lowest responsible quotation.
B. The purchasing agent shall keep
a record of all such open market orders and the
quotations submitted on them. Such records shall be open to public inspection during business
hours. Records of such open market orders may be disposed of by the purchasing agent after one
year from the date of approving the open market order. (Ord. 503 § 6, 1993: Ord. 456 § 2 (part),
1991: prior code § 8-20)
