Section 3315.8 is hereby added to the 2001 California Building Code to read as follows:

        Section 3315.8. Disturbed Surfaces.

        All disturbed surfaces resulting from grading operations shall be prepared and maintained to control erosion. This control may consist of effective planting such as rye grass, barley or some other fast germinating seed. The Building Official may require watering of planted areas to assure growth. Dust from grading operations must be controlled. The Owner or Contractor may be required to keep adequate equipment on the grading site to prevent dust problems.
