Section 12.24.100 Petition to change road name--Fees.

    A.    Any street name in the city may officially be changed upon petition to the address coordinator stating the existing street name, proposed new name and signatures of sixty percent of the property owners who property is serviced by such street. The name will be studied to assure they do not duplicate or sound like any existing street names in the city and/or county.
    B.    If the street name does not conflict with any existing street name, it will be submitted to the city council. The resolution of intention shall be set for public hearing and notice of such hearing shall be given by posting notice in at least three places along the street or streets proposed to be affected, such posting to be complete at least ten days before the day set for the hearing. At the time set for the hearing or at any time to which the hearing may be continued, the council shall hear and consider proposals to change the name of such street and upon adoption of the change thereof, shall make a resolution officially designating the name for the street; thereafter, such street shall be known by the name so designated.
    C.    A fee as established by resolution of the city council of five hundred dollars plus the costs of any publication shall accompany any new change request. (Ord. 459 § 51 (part), 1991: prior code § 21A-1.100)
