Section 10.08.010 Administration.

    A.  The city engineer shall exercise the powers and duties as provided in this chapter. Whenever the city engineer is required or authorized to place or maintain official traffic-control devices or signals, he may cause such devices or signals to be placed or maintained and the director of public works shall assist the city engineer and perform such work as the city engineer requests to carry out his or her duties.
    B.  It shall be the general duty of the city engineer to:
    1.  Determine the installation and proper timing and maintenance of traffic-control devices and signals, traffic regulations and informational signs and roadway markings;
    2.  Conduct engineering analysis of traffic accidents and to devise remedial measures subject to limitation as imposed by this title or other city ordinances;
    3.  Conduct engineering and traffic investigations of traffic conditions and to cooperate with the other city officials in the development of ways and means to improve traffic conditions;
    4.  Maintain a current record map of all authorized signs, signals and markings; and
    5.  To carry out such additional powers and duties as may be assigned by the city administrator. (Ord. 486 § 4 (part), 1992:  prior code § 13-2)
