The Facility Maintenance Division is responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of approximately 117,000 square feet of building space including; the City Hall facilities, park rental buildings, museums, Fire and Police Departments, as well as park facilities such as bridges, BBQ structures, and playgrounds. Staff maintains the public buildings to assure an attractive, safe, clean, workable environment for employees and the community to conduct its business. The division also provides professional level custodial services for City facilities. The maintenance of facilities is usually performed according to a schedule.
As the City facilities are in constant use they require custodial service, preventive maintenance, scheduled maintenance and, in some cases, emergency repair to keep them in full operation. The Facilities Maintenance staff whose skills include; painting, electrical, carpentry, locksmithing and other skills, provide those services to City departments. The division receives approximately 200 work requests annually to perform a variety of repairs, alterations and remodels. Employees must be familiar with building codes, ADA requirements and playground guidelines.
