The Engineering Division of the Public Works Department provides development services, Lighting and Landscaping District Management, Assessment District Management, Capitol Improvement Program Management, compliance of all improvements with City Standards, maintenance of improvement drawings and provides availability of plans to the public and conducts the Traffic Safety Review Committee.
MISSION STATEMENT ENGINEERING DIVISION
Purpose
The Engineering Division provides responsible, professional engineering services to support the public, other City departments, and outside agencies with the development and maintenance of community infrastructure. The Engineering Division operates in three areas; Development Services, Inspection and Capital Improvement Program Management.
Goals & Objectives
* Develop, construct and manage budgeted capital improvement projects, with emphasis on quality, schedule compliance and cost control. Following are the goals for design and construction this fiscal year: 2007/08 Sidewalk project; 2007/2008 and 2009 Overlay projects; East Main Street/Idaho-Maryland Road Intersection project (roundabout); Memorial Park Tennis Courts Improvements; Alta Hill Reservoir project; Main Street / Auburn Street Signal Improvement; Empire Water Tank Rehabilitation; 2008 Water Line Replacement; Morgan Ranch / Slate Creek Lift Station project; Wastewater Treatment Plant BNR-UV Facilities project; Primary Clarifier project and 2008 Sewer Line Replacement; * Provide technical review of development projects to the Community Development Department; provide a prompt turnaround for review of Building Permits, Grading Permits, and Encroachment Permits; * Continue to support the activities associated with the Traffic Safety Review Committee; * Maintain high level of customer service in providing the public with information regarding right of way, boundaries, maps, etc.; * Manage the City’s Lighting and Landscaping Districts and Benefit Assessment District; * Complete the update of the City’s Design and Construction Standards (last published in 1993).
