Encroachment permit

MISSION STATEMENT

Department: To provide responsible professional municipal service to develop and maintain the necessary infrastructure for continued service as the economic center of Western Nevada County and to preserve our historic small town quality of life.

Division: To provide responsible, professional engineering services to support the public, city departments, and other agencies for development and maintenance of community infrastructure in order to preserve the City’s status as the economic center of Western Nevada County, and to ensure its progress into the future while maintaining our historic small town quality of life.

OBJECTIVES

• Develop, construct and manage budgeted capital improvement projects, with emphasis on quality, schedule compliance and cost control.

• Assist Community Development Department in the prompt technical review of development projects.  Provide a prompt turnaround for Plan Review requests.  Maintain attendance at Development Review Committee meetings at 100%.

• Work toward a total reevaluation of standard construction contract documents and construction standards last published in 1993.  Provide inspection services to uphold construction standards and specifications.

• Provide Public Works divisions with prompt engineering, surveying and technical assistance.

• Focus engineering attention on City Goals and Objectives regarding Traffic Issues.  Plan and coordinate Traffic Safety Review Committee activities.

• Maintain accurate Atlas Maps for Water, Sewer, Storm Drains, Aerial and Addresses with full updates every three years.

• Provide information regarding right-of-way, boundaries, atlas maps, etc.

• Improve the City’s management of technology, equipment and infrastructure.

• Maintain the City’s level of service in public safety through support of Police and Fire Departments.

• Provide Finance assistance with overview of Grant operations and Capital Project funding to ensure fiscally sound budget activities and Grant Reporting.
