The Engineering Department is responsible for reviewing and preparing plans, specifications, cost estimates, and reports for all improvements in right-of-ways and City property, on behalf of the public, and provides support for the Traffic Safety Review Committee.

The Engineering Department met with stakeholders on February 1, 2006, to review the list of proposed Local Fee Traffic Projects.  Results are available at the following link: Local Traffic Impact Fee Summary Table.

Existing Critical Intersections

The following is a list of existing critical intersections identified in the 2020 General Plan EIR, and/or Street System Master Plan (dated October 2004).  The Engineering Department is in the process of procuring professional services to prepare a City traffic model specifically for Grass Valley to provide a more detailed analysis of the local roadway network throughout the City. As part of the development of the City’s traffic model, the City will be re-evaluating the critical intersections and updating the following list of critical intersections.

The list of intersections is a dynamic document, which will be periodically reviewed and updated as needed.  Questions concerning the list of critical intersections should be directed to the City’s Engineering Department at (530) 274-4373.

                  TRAFFIC CALMING

On 11/12/2002, the City adopted a Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program to establish procedures and measures to calm traffic in residential neighborhoods.

TRAFFIC REPORTS AND COUNTS
For several years, many Traffic Studies (reports) have been submitted to the Community Development Department for various development projects.  Some of these reports are "draft" documents and are not available for public review; completed documents can be reviewed by the public by contacting the Planning Department, or Engineering Department, and making arrangements for reviewing or copying the reports.

Certain traffic studies and traffic counts regarding Grass Valley are available for review on the Nevada County Transportation Commission website www.nctc.ca.gov
