The legislative power of the City of Grass Valley shall be vested in the
people through the initiative and referendum and the Council. The legislative
body of the City shall consist of five persons elected at large and to be
known as the Council. The Council shall have the power, in the name of the
City, to do an perform all acts and things appropriate to a municipal
corporation and the general welfare of its inhabitants and which are not
specifically forbidden by the Constitution of the State of California.
To be eligible for election to, or to hold, any
elective office of the City, you must be a resident and a registered voter
of the City at the time nomination papers are issued or at the time of
appointment to fill a vacancy
Council meetings are regularly held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month,
with special meetings called as necessary. The meetings are open to the
public and are held in the City Hall Council Chambers at 7 p.m. Agendas are
available the Friday preceding each Council meeting.
