The Parks and Recreation Commission is comprised of five (5) regular members and one (1) youth member. Members are appointed by the City Council and report directly to the Director of Public Works/City Engineer.
Positions are for four years and the youth position has a fixed two year term. The youth member must be between the ages of fourteen (14) and twenty-one (21) years of age, however, young adults may apply for and be appointed to regular positions.
Commission duties include formulating and proposing programs, activities, resources, plans and development designed to provide for the future growth and development of the community parks and recreation system. The Commission may also make recommendations regarding parks and recreation related activities and expenditures.
The Parks and Recreation Commission normally meets on the third Tuesday of scheduled months at 3:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Grass Valley City Hall.
